The focal point of the Town Center district is at the intersection of the main streets and will include an "icon" that sets the tone for the Town Center district and connects the new development with the history of the land.

Town Center District

This block will be the center of the mixed-use portion of the master plan. The plan organizes the site development into four quadrants linked by the Main Street which is defined by the vehicular access points to the site from the surrounding streets. Each quadrant has the potential to be an individual project with different mixes of retail, office and residential components. Each quadrant is to have retail / commercial spaces fronting onto the Main Street and Town Square environments. The retail would include a grocery store, bank and smaller "service" type of specialty retailers mixed with small cafes and restaurants featuring comfortable outdoor seating.

Icon and Town Square
The current plan includes a central traffic roundabout with a signature, historical icon serving as the focal point. Further development of this "icon" in this location will come in future design efforts on the project. Adjacent to the "icon" will be a Town Square park that will be a flexible open space envisioned as a shaded grass area that is available for public functions and will serve as an amenity for the residential units. This space could be utilized by art fairs, as a small music venue, play area for children or potentially a weekend farmers market. Retail spaces fronting on the park should be leased as outdoor cafés and restaurants to take advantage of the serene park atmosphere.
